Type Arachnid
Damage Small
First appearance Nave

Spiders are small arachnids encountered briefly in Amnesia: The Dark Descent. They were also intended to appear as enemies before the idea was cut in the final game's release.

Description Edit

They are nothing more than small normal spiders, tinted with light grey/brown colors.

Information Edit

The spiders as enemies can be added in the game with an editor, but due to their unfinished state they cannot be killed by the player. If the player get too close, the Spider will leap and attack them with minimal damage.

Despite their removal, Spiders do appear in the Nave, but they cannot attack and barely move; they are just for scenery.

Trivia Edit

  • In the critters folder, there are three sound files, named "spider_die#.ogg" meaning that the spiders were meant to be legitimate, killable enemies.
  • The arachnids were originally planned to feature as enemies Daniel would have to encounter in the Archives, but were dropped from the final game.
  • Spiders appear in Penumbra: Overture, another game made by Frictional Games. Both appearances are nearly identical, although the spiders in Amnesia are slightly smaller than from Penumbra.
  • There is a large spider in a display case in the mansion's trophy room in Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs. This spider could possibly be the genus that Philip encounters in Penumbra: Overture.
